Global action on climate change starts locally! Rise to the challenge by participating in the Boulder 350 Global Work Party on 10/10/10 (October 10, 2010), this year’s biggest day of international action to cut carbon emissions. The Boulder event will be one of over 4100 Global Work Parties ocurring in over 170 countries! Attend hands-on carbon-reduction workshops and discussions and join in on field trips to reduce your carbon footprint and help address the serious problem of climate change we all face. All members of the Boulder community, including kids, teens, students and adults, are invited to participate.
Schedule of Events:
9am to 11am – Morning workshops at Naropa University’s Downtown Campus (2130 Arapahoe Ave)
11am to 11:30am – “iMatter March:Kids vs. Climate Change” from Naropa’s Arapahoe Campus to the University Memorial Center at CU Boulder. Everyone welcome!
11:30am to 12:00 pm- Live marimba music by Musha Marimba at the fountain plaza next to the University Memorial Center at CU Boulder. Bring a picnic lunch!
11:30am to 5:30 pm – Sponsorship expo at the Arcade by the fountain plaza next to the University Memorial Center at CU Boulder. Come find out more about the great products and services offered by our sponsors!
12:00 pm to 12:45pm – Kick-Off Rally with short speeches from our political representatives and leading community climate change advocates, including U.S. House Representative Jared Polis; Hunter Lovins, President and Founder of Natural Capitalism Solutions; Sean Babington, representative of Senator Michael Bennett; Jonathan Koehn, Regional Sustainability Coordinator at the City of Boulder; Leslie Glustrom, Co-founder of Clean Energy Action; and youth from Earth Guardians. We’ll also draw winners for the Register and Win! Raffle. Earn raffle tickets by pre-registering for workshops online! Hosted by Waylon Lewis, of Elephant Journal.com and the Walk the Talk Show.
1:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Over 30 carbon-footprint reduction workshops hosted by local organizations held at the University Memorial Center at CU Boulder. All workshops are free-of-charge and open to the public.
5:30 pm to 11:oo pm – Join us for a Carrotmob Party to celebrate our day of successful workshops while supporting energy efficiency, waste reduction and local food at the St Julien Hotel in Boulder! The St Julien will be investing 50% of the evening’s profits towards reducing their carbon footprint. Come join to relax, celebrate, and support green consumer activism through Carrotmob.
