What:
The first ever Community Climate Action Summit will connect community and business leaders throughout Boulder County to discuss the collective goal of greenhouse gas emission reductions, tackle difficult policy issues and plan far-reaching programs to reduce energy use.
When:
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2010
Where:
Millennium Harvest House, 1345 28th Street, Boulder, CO. (See Google Map)
Why:
The summit will lay the groundwork for future energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction efforts. Media partners should attend because attendees will:
- Be part of an inaugural event where the region’s thought leaders will discuss the difficult issues surrounding energy policy and the significant programs that are needed to meet greenhouse gas reduction goals;
- have access to community groups, active organizations and business leaders with the common goal of improving environmental sustainability; and
- hear first-hand about ground breaking new programs to be implemented in the Boulder area.
Background:
The Climate Action Plan (CAP) strategy passed by City Council in June 2009 included a semi-annual community CAP summit designed to foster leadership from all parts of the community and to provide a forum for community dialogue and action planning related to the city's greenhouse gas reduction goals.
