New SmartGridCity video airing on Channel 8
A new video from Xcel Energy about the SmartGridCity Project will begin airing at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 on Boulder Municipal Channel 8. The video includes:
- A review of realized benefits realized;
- Information about the components of SmartGridCity including the technology infrastructure, smart meters, the MyAccount Web portal and in-home control devices; and,
- Information on how to participate in the In-Home Smart Device Pilot.
The city is excited about the MyAccount Web portal that allows residents to view their historical (24 months) electricity and gas data. Customers with Smart Meters can view their electricity use in various timeframes as frequent as 15-minute intervals. Interested residents can use this information to make decisions about energy conservation and efficiency and see the impact of their actions. Reducing energy use saves money on energy bills and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, moving the Boulder community closer to its Climate Action goal.
The 10-minute program will also air on Channel 8 at the following times:
- Mondays at 9:30 a.m.
- Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.
- Fridays at 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Saturdays at 11 a.m.
- Sundays at 6 p.m.

“Step to the Pulse” dance events at Boulder Library
April is Colorado Dance Month, and in celebration, dancers will perform at the Main Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave., Monday through Thursday, April 19-22.
Performances will be in 15-minute increments at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Canyon Gallery Pulse Point (north wing). Dancers will then perform on the south side of Main Library in the Southside Pulse Point about 20 minutes later, at 11:20 a.m., 1:20 p.m., 3:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. for 15 minutes each.
Different groups and dancing styles will participate each day and at the different time slots. A wide variety of dance genres will perform, including ballroom and Latin dance, Middle Eastern, Contact Improvisation, African, Hawaiian, modern students from Naropa University, CU-Boulder and more.
